What This Is

"Every man I know has everything he ever wanted. And none of them know what they're doing here."

The 40 is a 40-day solo wilderness immersion on private land. No guides. No itinerary. No one to tell you what to do or who to be. You are dropped at the edge of the property with what you need to survive — and nothing more.

You have 10 objectives. You have 40 days to complete as many as you can. Each one you finish earns back $5,000 of your investment. But the objectives are not the point. They're the framework that gets you out of your head and into the land.

What happens in those 40 days is between you and yourself.

This is not a retreat. There is no facilitator. No breathwork. No ceremony. No plant medicine. No one is going to hold space for you. No one is going to hand you an insight wrapped in a blanket. This is 1,000 acres, 40 days, and whatever is left of you when the noise stops.

Who This Is For

You already know if this is you.

01
He sold his company last year. He hasn't slept through the night since.
02
Three kids. Two houses. Zero idea what he actually wants.
03
He's done every optimization. Every protocol. Every retreat. Still nothing.
04
Everyone thinks he's fine. He's the only one who knows he isn't.
05
He keeps building. He doesn't know what happens if he stops.
How It Works

We don't hold your hand.
We hold the land.

I
Application

You apply. We review. Not everyone is accepted. This isn't for the man who wants to be challenged. It's for the man who needs to be.

II
Preparation

30 days before your start date, you receive your objectives and a basic supply list. How you prepare is up to you. We recommend you don't over-prepare.

III
The Drop

You are driven to the edge of the property and left. You have your gear, your supplies, and the coordinates of the cabin. The rest is yours.

IV
The 40 Days

A single patrol passes the perimeter daily — unseen, unreachable unless you call the sat phone. You are alone. Genuinely alone. That is the point.

V
Extraction

On day 40, we come back for you. Whatever you completed, you earned. Whatever changed, you own. No debrief unless you want one.

"The wilderness doesn't care who you are. That's exactly why you need to go."
The Objectives

Ten things to do.
Forty days to do them.

Each objective is physical, mental, and intentional. Complete all ten and you've earned back half your investment. Most men complete six or seven. A few complete all ten. None of them come back the same.

01
Build Fire Without Tools

Friction fire only. No matches, no lighter. Document it.

02
Source Your Own Water

Seven consecutive days from the land only. No stored supply.

03
Hunt or Fish for a Full Meal

You kill it, you clean it, you cook it. From scratch.

04
Build a Shelter

Sleep one full night in something you built with your hands from what the land provides.

05
The Letter

Write an honest letter to someone you've wronged. Seal it. Decide what to do with it.

06
Navigate by Stars

Travel two miles from the cabin and return using nothing but the night sky.

07
Seven Days of Silence

No speaking. No humming. No deliberate noise. Seven consecutive days.

08
The Decision

Identify the one decision you've been avoiding. Write it down. Make it.

09
Sealed

Given in a sealed envelope on day one. You open it alone.

10
Sealed

Given in a sealed envelope on day one. You open it alone.

Two objectives are revealed only when you are alone. No past participant has ever disclosed them. We intend to keep it that way.

5
Books, Chosen for You
We choose five books based on your application. You won't know what they are until you arrive. Most men say the books changed them more than the land did.
The Kit

Made by hand.
Carried in. Carried out.

Before you are dropped, you receive a wooden crate. Inside it is everything we provide — made by hand, by real people, using materials from the earth. No manufactured goods. No shortcuts. These are not supplies. They are your companions for 40 days. They go home with you when it's over.

Possibles Pouch
Brain-tan deer leather, hand-stitched. Carries what matters. Sized for your dominant hand.
Self Bow + Arrows
Traditional self-bow from a single stave. Hand-fletched arrows with natural feathers and stone points. No modern materials.
Flint-Knapped Knife
Stone blade, knapped by hand. Antler or bone handle. Rawhide wrap. The same tool your ancestors carried.
Stone Hatchet
Hand-knapped stone head, hand-hewn hardwood handle, rawhide lashing. Heavy, real, effective.
Bow Drill Fire Kit
Spindle, fireboard, handhold, and tinder bundle — all hand-carved and matched. No metal. If you want fire, you earn it.
Woven Cordage
Plant fiber or rawhide, hand-twisted. Use it for whatever you need it for. Make more if you run out.
The Journal
Hand-bound leather. Blank. What goes in it is yours alone.
Five Books
Chosen specifically for you, based on your application. You won't know what they are until the crate is open.

Every item in the crate was made by a person who knew what it was for. Their hands built the thing that might save your life. That's not a detail. That's the point.

Dispatches

What 40 days might sound like.

Composite journal fragments. Not from a real participant. Not entirely fictional either.

Day 3
I keep reaching for my phone. It's not here. My hand doesn't know that yet.
Day 9
Built the fire today. Took four hours. Hands are raw. I sat next to it for a long time after. Not because I was cold.
Day 14
I opened the second book. It's like they knew. I don't know how they knew.
Day 22
The silence objective started three days ago. I thought it would be easy. It is the hardest thing I've ever done. Turns out I talk to myself constantly. I didn't know that about myself.
Day 31
I wrote the letter. I'm not sending it. But I wrote it.
Day 38
Two days left. I don't want to leave. That's the first thing I've felt clearly in years.
After

We don't track what happens after.
But we hear things.

First cohort.
Six spots.

The first run of The 40 will accept six participants. Applications are reviewed manually. Not everyone will be offered a spot.

Investment: $50,000. Dates TBD based on land acquisition and participant cohort. You'll be contacted when we're ready.

If you're asking whether this is for you — it probably isn't. If you already know — join the list.

No payment required. No commitment. Just intent.

You're on the list.

We'll be in touch when the land is ready.

You probably know exactly who this is for.
